Torrie Smith Associates Inc. is a well established consulting firm based in Ottawa that specializes in the ecological, technical and socio-economic aspects of resource management. We have been working in the energy and environmental fields since our firm's inception in 1979. We bring a unique mix of quantitative analytical capability and advanced conceptual approaches to the energy and environmental field and have made a number of important contributions to the definition, understanding and promotion of sustainable development in Canada and internationally.

In recent years following our involvement in the first World Climate Conference in 1988, one of our key consultancies has been the analysis of greenhouse gas emissions at both the national and local level and the development of software to assist our clients in forming a Strategic Plan to reduce ghg emissions to their target level.

We provided the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) with the first easy to use software for local governments to quantify greenhouse gases emissions from their activities.

We have helped over 300 municipalities around the world by providing software and training on Greenhouse gas emissions analysis.

Now corporations and institutions can identify and assess opportunities for emission reductions and energy and financial savings by using new eMissions Software for Business and Institutions. Torrie Smith Associates' has also developed Greenhouse Gas and Criteria Air Pollutant reduction software for the State and Local Air Pollution Authorities in the United States. Called Clean Air and Climate Protection Software, the tool can be modified for other localities.
